How can YOU make a difference for people and causes you care about here in our city or around the world? Our own City of Boston Employees Charitable Campaign - COBECC - gives you the opportunity to give to your choice of more than 900 charities listed in this brochure.
There are many worthy charities needing our support, including youth programs, homeless shelters, medical research initiatives, and environmental groups. They care for our senior citizens, watch over our children, protect our ground water, and so much more. These are the non-profit organizations that improve our quality of life in so many ways. Almost every one of us, or our families, has asked for help at some time in our lives.
In the 2008 campaign, COBECC raised more than $365,000 - up from the $313,000 raised in 2007! We reached out and you respondedduring difficult economic times!! The many charities that benefit from your generosity are extremely grateful. This year we want to increase participation of City employees even more. We are continuing to improve the process to make it easier for you to contribute. Just $1 per week - less than the cost of a cup of coffee - means a $52 donation to the charity of your choice. It can buy school supplies for a homeless child, groceries for a senior citizen or help turn a vacant lot in a neighborhood park.
THANK YOU to the generous City of Boston employees who have donated to COBECC in the past. And thank you for all you do every day in your jobs and life to help others. This year, we again ask each of you to reach into your hearts and contribute to the charity of your choice through this important campaign. COBECC and you, make a difference!
Sincerely,
